Tharine Pienaar is a writer and researcher at Pop24!, Media24’s in-house production company, where she has written two seasons of the much-loved talk show, Minki en Vriende. She has also written thirteen episodes for Die Groot Afskud’s second season, ten episodes of Herman en die Ladies, a special called Minki: Hart van die Huis, and – VIA’s top rated show – Houvrou Trouvrou?. She has also coordinated two seasons of Slim vang sy Baas and Slimkoppe. And has written for short-form projects, including inserts, television commercials and YouTube content, for brands like PorkSA, Lamelle, and BODYTEC. In 2023, she conceptualised, pitched and wrote kykNET’s Christmas feature film, Kind, where she worked closely with Commissioning Editor, Wikus du Toit and The Film Factory’s Danie Bester.
She has been a freelance writer since 2015. Writing blog articles, social media posts and television commercials for companies like Gems & Stuff, and Invictus Education Group. Between writing, she always (somehow) end up in the higher education sphere. She has enjoyed over 6 years developing content, writing study guides and lecturing screenwriting, film, and television commercial production to first to third year students.
