Eligibility: Open to aspiring screenwriters aged between 18 and 35, holding a post-Matric qualification.
Application Requirements:
Authenticity: Entries will be screened through plagiarism detection software to ensure authenticity. Submissions found to be non-original will be automatically disqualified.
Submission Deadline: All applications must be submitted by Wednesday, 15th November at 3PM. Late submissions will not be considered.
Selection Process: Applicants will be selected based on creativity, originality, and how well they capture the essence of the chosen prompt. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
Stipend: Successful candidates will receive a stipend of R5000. This stipend is contingent upon full participation in the program.
Prompt 1: The Tech Addiction Intervention
In the midst of a tech-addicted family, a power outage strikes, courtesy of routine load shedding. The lack of electronic devices reveals the depth of one member’s gadget obsession. Craft a synopsis for a short film where this blackout becomes the unintentional intervention that the family never knew they needed. How does each family member react, and what revelations come to light when the WiFi dies and screens go dark?
Prompt 2: The Food Critic’s Dilemma
Imagine a renowned food critic known for their exquisite taste and harsh reviews. Their latest assignment? To critique a simple bag of Nik Naks chips. Write a synopsis for a short film that dives into the humor and conflict of critiquing a beloved snack. How does this task challenge their palate and reputation? What unforeseen consequences might their review have on the brand and their career?
Prompt 3: The Whispering Baobab
In a rural village, an ancient secret has been passed down for generations. Under the oldest baobab tree, an elder is about to share this secret with a young child. As they converse, they discover that the tree itself is imbued with mystical properties, allowing it to communicate. Your synopsis should outline a narrative that explores this magical revelation and its implications for the elder, the child, and the village itself.

Program Alterations: Creative Careers South Africa reserves the right to modify the program schedule or content as needed.
Cancellation and Liability: In the event of program cancellation or postponement, participants will be notified. Creative Careers South Africa is not liable for any personal expenses related to program participation.
