Louise Anne Buchler is based in KwaZulu Natal. She is a writer, lecturer, and performer with more than 15 years’ experience.
She has lectured in Drama and Performance Studies at UKZN specializing in scriptwriting, voice, and shock theatre and currently lectures in screenwriting at AFDA where she has also served as a narrative consultant. Her debut collection of poetry was recently published by Tears in the Fence, UK and she was invited to the Tears in the Fence Literary Festival in Dorset, England in September this year to read from her collection. She freelances as a mentor for writers of all ages and abilities. She believes that artists play a vital role in translating experiences into a language that holds the potential to reach people on many levels cultivating understanding and empathy. She is excited by the medium of scriptwriting – especially for the possibilities it holds when translated to the screen. Her philosophy is centred around trusting the process and working to cultivate an environment where fear of failure is abandoned – once you’ve achieved that it becomes easier to write and take creative risks.
